Yosemite- & Death Valley National Park

After spending a few days in San Francisco, the tour I’ve booked started. The first day we headed to Yosemite National Park. On the way I was amazed by the great scenery of the state California, it’s so divers!

When we arrived at Yosemite National Park it was a bit cold. I had to wear my winter coat while exploring the park. The nature there is just unreal! It felt like a dream all the time. Beautiful trees, mountains covered in snow, waterfalls, streams and a clear blue sky. I can’t even describe it…just breathtaking.

And it didn’t stop there. The next day we continued our trip. We went from snow to the desert to explore Death Valley. The temperature was quiet nice and the views were just spectacular! I didn’t know where to look. So much beauty to see. I’ve never seen something like this in my life.

San Francisco

My first day in San Francisco was an ambitious (and therefore busy) one! After I had a good night of sleep I thought I could conquer the world…So I started with a cable car ride to Hyde Street. It was a great experience and a perfect way to get a first impression of the city.

Near Hyde Street was the rental bike place where I rented a bike to cross the Golden Gate Bridge. I can tell you, it was quiet a ride! But it was all worth it. The views and the bridge were amazing! And lucky me, it was very sunny.

After crossing the bridge for the second time (on my way back) I decided to cycle to the Palace of Fine Arts…That is by far one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen. The architecture, the setting…it was so peaceful.

I returned my bike (and helmet) and was shocked by the time I cycled…more than 3 hours! Next I walked to Fisherman’s Wharf, Pier 39 and Coit Tower for a fantastic panoramic view of San Francisco.

One last thing on my list was Lombard Street. A must see I must say. It’s the world’s crookedest street!

Bday/Goodbye party

Last weekend I celebrated my birthday with my friends. I haven’t turned 33 yet since my birthday is next week, but I’m not at home then because of this great journey I have planned! So it was nice to see them all before I leave town. I got some useful presents for my journey such as locks, a journal and a first aid kit. But me time can’t be missing so I got two magazines…food for thought! Gonna miss my friends and the conversations we have…

I’m almost packed now and it was such a challenge. I’m traveling with a ‘trolley’ for the first time ever but I think I managed to pack all the basic stuff and left some space for extras, now and later. I’m lucky that my clothes are small and don’t take up too much space!

The countdown has begun now.

Two weeks till departure and only two more days of work left! I am so excited I can’t even describe. Still can’t imagine that I will travel to the other side of the world in two weeks. Because of work I don’t have much time for anticipatory pleasure but that changes within two days when I have time enough to prepare and plan a part of my journey.
