Bday/Goodbye party

Last weekend I celebrated my birthday with my friends. I haven’t turned 33 yet since my birthday is next week, but I’m not at home then because of this great journey I have planned! So it was nice to see them all before I leave town. I got some useful presents for my journey such as locks, a journal and a first aid kit. But me time can’t be missing so I got two magazines…food for thought! Gonna miss my friends and the conversations we have…

I’m almost packed now and it was such a challenge. I’m traveling with a ‘trolley’ for the first time ever but I think I managed to pack all the basic stuff and left some space for extras, now and later. I’m lucky that my clothes are small and don’t take up too much space!

The countdown has begun now.

I am…

Hi! I am Jacintha de Gruiter, 32 years old and living in Leidschendam (The Netherlands) at the moment. All my life I have been passionate about media & entertainment, so it wasn’t a surprise that I choose to study Media & Culture at the University of Amsterdam. I couldn’t be more happy! My days were filled with movies, television series, music videos, commercials and so much more.

During my studies I started writing news about celebrities. Over the years I developed this expertise and scored jobs at MTV Networks and ANP (Netherlands national news agency) among other companies in the media & entertainment industry.

But the last couple of years were not that easy. I really had to learn the hard way…to listen to my heart. I came to the conclusion that I have nothing to lose at this point. That’s why I decided to finally follow my biggest dream and another passion…traveling.

So in February I will start a trip around the world! The first destination will be the West Coast of the United States. A lot of people asked me to keep them posted so that’s why I finally launched my own website. I will use it for my journey around the world these coming months, but since life in general is one big journey, I will continue writing about my adventures when I’m back in town!

Of course I hope you will enjoy my stories. Anyway, thank you for taking this journey called life with me!

Love, Jacintha
